Experience the beauty and challenge of one of this Country’s oldest golf courses, steeped in over 100 years of rich history. Originally built in 1898, the course was redesigned by noted architect, John Van Kleek, who benefited from the consultation of World Champion Walter Hagen.
With the Adirondack Mountains and pristine Lake Placid as its backdrop, the artistically designed course offers novices and pros alike a rewarding day. Its trademark clover leaf designed greens and bunkers illustrate the meticulous attention to details the architect provided.
The Whiteface Club & Resort golf house and pro shop offer a wide variety of quality golfing products. Join us on the covered deck overlooking the putting green and first hole for a casual lunch or beverage, or one of a variety of golf tournaments.
The entire eighteen-hole course is enhanced with a state-of-the-art irrigation system.
J. Peter Martin, PGA Professional and Director of Golf at the Club
Peter is well known for his teaching philosophy which focuses on building a solid foundation in the golf swing by stressing the basic fundamentals of the game and keeping it simple.
He has a very strong background in sports and psychology, is a firm believer in the Zen balance of mind, body and spirit as a key to effective movement in the golf swing.
Peter was elected into the Northeastern New York PGA Hall of Fame, is a member of the Golf Writers Association of America and a former contributing editor of New York Golf Magazine. He has written instructional and historical articles for numerous magazines and newspapers throughout the United States as well as the author of the Adirondack Golf Courses Past & Present, Centennial History of the Whiteface Golf Club, Craig Wood, the Blond Bomber and Native Son of Lake Placid and Adirondack Golf Tips & Tales.
His instructional program includes private lessons, playing lessons, Saturday morning clinics as well as women’s clinics and junior golfer clinics.

Tournaments
The Annual 9 Hole One Club plus Putter Tournament
With this popular and very interesting format, some golfers soon realize that to score well, one club sometimes serves you better than 14 clubs. Last year one of our members shot a 35 with one club.
Members Sunday Tournament
Each Sunday at noon, members meet at the Pro Shop and play 18 holes. It’s called the Members Sunday Tournament and is a great way to not only golf with other members, but also to meet and socialize with other members.
